My Young Women

Last Tuesday at mutual I showed my young women how to make Christmas cards. It was so fun because they had never seen anything like it in their whole lives. Scrapbooking is definitely not a common activity here. I found one little hole-in-the-wall shop that had barely anything to buy all the supplies. I showed them how to make the die-cuts, how to use the cutters, how to use ink to "distress" the paper, how to properly attach things and all kinds of fun stuff. They LOVED it! It's awesome when our girls really get into what we're doing since most of them come very sparatically and aren't entirely active. Each girl had her own twist on the card and all of them were very unique. The best part was that they wanted to make more and more so that they could give them to their friends and family. We were glad that it made them think of others and not just of themselves :) My girls are so sweet. I am going to be showing them how to make caramel popcorn this coming Tuesday to give away with the cards they made. This should be interesting, I will have to post pictures...they love food.
Christmas Lights!
Last night Brock and I took a trolley through Downtown Honolulu to see all the Christmas lights. Unfortunately, there weren't very many decorations on the big buildings, just trees that had the trunks and branches wrapped and colored lights in the fountains in front of the buildings mostly. But we did come across this really cool building on the walk home. It had a lot of cool HUGE decorations. Turns out there was also a Christmas tree and wreath contest going on so we got to check out all the fun entries. Seeing all the light and families out and about on a Saturday night really helped to put us in the Christmas spirit. It's been hard to remember that it's December when it's still 84 degrees and really sunny everyday. I understand what people meant when they told me there were no seasons here!

Kristen's Baby

So my sister has his this picture up on her blog for a little while..but I was just looking at it today and I can't get over how adorable it is! The baby is sucking her thumb! They have decided to name her Maddy. She is due in February and I am going home for 2 weeks around then. Hopefully she will have the baby while I am there. It is so depressing that I cannot be there for her while she is going through all the fun pregnancy stuff.
